How To Look After Your Skin During Ramadan?

Ramadan is the holy month followed by the Muslim community where they spend time in prayer and fasting. During this time, fasting may cause dehydration and could affect your skin. It is very important that you follow a proper skincare regimen so your skin remains glowing and healthy.

The following are some skincare tips to help you take better care of your skin during Ramadan:

  • Ensure you are sufficiently hydrated. Even though you may not drink water during the daytime, it is important to ensure you drink sufficient water from Iftar to Sahur. The calculation is simple – multiply your weight in kilograms by 0.0033. The result is the quantity of water you need to drink each day. Eg: If you weigh 55 kgs, you need to drink 55 x 0.0033 = 1.8 litres of water.
  • Avoid coffee as it can cause depletion in electrolytes. Caffeine can suck the minerals out from your body making it dehydrated and affecting the skin.
  • Use moisturizers for skincare. A good moisturizer can help prevent dehydration and keep your skin moist.
  • Have a good night’s sleep. This is the best way to have young and healthy-looking skin. Try to get at least 8 hours of sleep every day.
  • Make sure you include fruits and vegetables in your diet. This will ensure you get Vitamins A, B, and C that helps in protecting your skin.
  • In case you are planning to go out, do use sunscreen. It is very important to protect the skin from the harsh rays of the sun. You need to use sunscreen on all parts of the skin that would be exposed to the sun for optimum protection. Use a sunscreen product with an SPF of 30 or more.
  • Ensure you use the right skin care product to protect your skin. If you have oily skin, use a cleansing gel. In case you have dry skin, you can use a milk cleanser.
  • It is important to use the right eye cream for the area around the eye. The skin around the eye is thin and more vulnerable to damage. Hence, you need to use the right product. If you have signs of aging, you can use an anti-age eye cream.
  • Avoid heavy makeup. This can block the pores on the skin causing skin problems.
  • Use a cleansing cream to remove impurities and make-up to cleanse the skin effectively.
